Jackson Island
Jackson Island on Lake Traverse in northeast South Dakota is a 25 acre island. Own your own island with trees, open grass areas, and some beach. Good fishing, hunting, and camping. Lake Traverse is the 12th largest lake in the state of Minnesota, with the surface area of 11,600 acres. The maximum depth is 15 feet with an average depth of 10.2 feet. Lake Traverse is 16.5 miles long with an average width of 1.75 miles. Lake Traverse runs down the border of South Dakota and Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the South Dakota Game, Fish and Park Department cooperatively manage the fish populations of the Lake Traverse. Together the lake is well stocked with walleye, northern pike, blue gill, and black crappie, depending on availability and whether such supplemental stocks are deemed necessary. Presently, the lake contains over 30 species of fish.
